Sonoma County and Fall's arrival...

Harvest Fair Santa Rosa

Summer is winding down with a crash!  Misty, foggy, almost drizzling morning- had to use my windshield wipers.  Have you ever wondered what we do in the fall here in the wine country?  This weekend is a perfect example of a couple of the wonderful things we have to keep us busy.

Sonoma County...silly, wacky, and wonderful!

Burma Shave Sign

Sonoma County does it again...Have you noticed the red signs strung beside the road following the Russian River from Santa Rosa out towards Guerneville? You can head down the road both directions from the Farmhouse Inn in either direction to run into them.  Remember the old Burma Shave signs...well maybe not if you are a youngun' but I remember hearing about them in a marketing class in college.  You could equate them to life sized "twitter" posts with a sense of humor. The signs were up along our earliest roads from the '20s until 1963 and were an early form of our modern billboards advertising a shaving cream.  Here's an example in case you have no idea what I am talking about:

Sonoma Wine Country...Making Music

The Sonoma Wine Country summer music scene certainly seems to include something for everybody.  I know I've mentioned before there seems to be something going on just about every night...Just to give you a few ideas for the next few weeks.

Elopement to Farmhouse Swenson

This last week has been a bit crazy here at the Farmhouse Inn (you might say- situation normal!). We had scheduled a photo shoot for our very first video for this week.  Which sounds crazy- who wants to do something like that in our busy season?  But we wanted to include the Bartolomei family ranch and gardens (where Chef Stevo gets some of the produce for the restaurant) and they don't look like too much until later in the season when everything is growing like mad!

Farmhouse Celebrations...wine country style!

Elopement at Farmhouse

This week has been focused on celebrations here at Farmhouse Inn...we are all focused on the national celebration of Independence Day but our guests are always celebrating something.  This week we had 3 honeymoon couples in the house...you ought to hear the concierges waxing poetic about each and every one.

Father's Day in the Wine Country...Farmhouse Inn  "staff pick" for the weekend is the Sonoma County Hot Air Balloon Classic.  Food, Fun, and tethered balloon rides. Get up early and head for Keiser Park in Windsor - I saw "Sushi" there a couple of years ago.  I hope she is back this year.

Sonoma Wine Country...summer at last!

Powell's Sweet Shoppe

Summer...lots of things to do in the wine country.  Every single day of the week (except Monday) there is a Farmer's Market somewhere in Sonoma County.  Between my neighbors' excess produce and the Farmer's Markets I won't have to visit a grocery story until probably next November.

Sweet Sonoma Summer...where are you?

Art at the Source

Graduations, weddings, outdoor events all scrambling because a February/March-like storm is coming in for the weekend.  It is winter in June - we don't get rain in June!  Rain, wind, thunderstorms, even snow in Lake Tahoe.  Skiing, anyone? And here at Farmhouse Inn we had to put away the pool cushions and distribute the umbrellas to the rooms - AGAIN!!

Wine Country this week...Taste of Alexander Valley, Airplanes, Oysters and Belly Dancing!

Sonoma Backroad Challenge

How's that for a headline?  Sure hope that peaked your curiosity a little. Another busy weekend in Sonoma's Wine Country and it is still not even summer!
