Sonoma Wine Country...summer at last!

Powell's Sweet Shoppe

Summer...lots of things to do in the wine country.  Every single day of the week (except Monday) there is a Farmer's Market somewhere in Sonoma County.  Between my neighbors' excess produce and the Farmer's Markets I won't have to visit a grocery story until probably next November.

Sweet Sonoma Summer...where are you?

Art at the Source

Graduations, weddings, outdoor events all scrambling because a February/March-like storm is coming in for the weekend.  It is winter in June - we don't get rain in June!  Rain, wind, thunderstorms, even snow in Lake Tahoe.  Skiing, anyone? And here at Farmhouse Inn we had to put away the pool cushions and distribute the umbrellas to the rooms - AGAIN!!

Catherine and Varun Sharma

Here in Sonoma County it does seem like all we do is eat and drink...and then... eat and drink some more. Today at Farmhouse we had Inside Luxury Travel from the UK here to film for a Culinary Travel Show featuring the California Wine Country that will be beamed into over 500 million homes world wide.  Pretty exciting stuff but we won't see the finished product until next fall sometime.  Managed to snap a quick shot of our Catherine and the presenter, Varun Sharma though.

Easter goodies at Farmhouse Inn

          Happy Easter!

We have been having such fun here at the Farmhouse Inn with our "Make your own Easter Basket" and Easter Egg Hunt Farmhouse style.  Goodies galore (more chocolate, please) and your very own basket to fill. The inn has a basket of eggs at the front desk filled with surprises.  Each guest checking in selects an egg...and finds a treasure inside- maybe a $25 gift card, a bottle of wine, a free spa treatment or even...a complimentary dinner for two in the Farmhouse restaurant.  If you are looking for a quick getaway we still have a couple of rooms left.  Speaking of the restaurant I have a little spring present for you from our pastry chef at the end of this post.

It's been a wild week for Northern California weather wise but it looks like the worst is behind us. Joe took this picture from his truck on the way to the Farmhouse this morning.

barrel tasting

Barrel Tasting this weekend... very busy, exhausted tasting room staff but our guests here at the Farmhouse not only invested in futures but shipped a lot of wine home. Yes,  we do a lot of shipping for our guests. Wine Country Shipping picks up here at the Inn almost every day.

Cheesemaking in Sonoma County

Our guests here at the Farmhouse sometimes think Sonoma County is only about the wine - especially after a crazy weekend of Barrel Tasting along the wineroad.  This next weekend is the second of the scheduled Barrel Tasting weekends and we shall report further on that later...there are sure to be some highlights reported by our guests.
