This is the time of year when we reflect on the trials and tribulations of the past year. What a list! Sonoma County has been getting much noticed as a desired destination but nothing has topped the "#1 Wine Destination in the U.S." by TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Awards - Napa Valley was #2 in the U.S. (and Sonoma was voted second in the World- right behind Tuscany at #1- I guess we can live with that).
And we are not just about wine...food is of supreme importance also...Santa Rosa topped Sperlings Top 10 Best Places to Live if You're a Foodie" list.
Local Town Made Good: Healdsburg just 10 minutes north of us was named one of the "10 Best Small Towns in America" by travel website Fodors. Just prior to that the Zagat guide rated Healdsburg one of the "Twenty Awesome Winter Foodie Destinations" in the world. And in November The Daily Meal voted Healdsburg one of the "Best Small Towns for Food in America". We do love our small towns around here...and our food!
Farmhouse Inn is located smack in the middle of Sonoma County and all this excitement. We have been making our own mark with highly personalized service and several awards and recognitions have come our way this year (tooting our own horn a bit here).
Farmhouse Inn has maintained our AAA 4-Diamond rating and the restaurant has been awarded the Michelin star for the seventh year in a row. The Farmhouse restaurant has consistently been voted Best Food and Best Service by Open Table Diners and they voted us again Best Overall as one of the Top 100 Best Restaurants in America. Yup- more food!
Andrew Harper paid us a visit (we don't know when as is all anonymous but from his photos must have been in the spring) and has rated us highest in the area in his review in the Andrew Harper Hideaway Report . He took some great photos during his visit with us too. That was a big wow for us- We feel very lucky to be included in the Andrew Harper portfolio now.
In August we were voted by Travel & Leisure readers as #38 on their Best 100 Hotels in the World List...that was truly amazing. Their readers also voted us #3 on their list of the Best Inns in United States...how do these things happen, anyway? We feel truly humbled by our guests that will go out of their way to recognize us in this way. We actually do feel that reviews and votes by our guests are more meaningful than those of the professional reviewers...it makes our heart very full when our guests are so appreciative.
Somehow we got discovered by Martha Stewart (you know who she is, right?) and ended up on her website listed as one of the Top 10 Best MiniMoon Locations. Romantic- that's us, all right. If you are in the mood for a little romance we think the wine country and Farmhouse Inn is a pretty good place for it.
And to finish off the year with a bang...Gary Walther with Forbes Magazine wrote up our Barn rooms in his report of Best Luxury Rooms of 2013.
Off and running in 2014 already...
We have just joined Preferred Hotel Group's Boutique Collection and look forward to partnering with them in the future...they have some of our favorite properties in their portfolio.
We just heard Travel & Leisure's January issue features Farmhouse Inn as one of the Top 500 Hotels for 2014 and Conde Naste has selected the Russian River Valley and Farmhouse Inn as one of their not to be missed destinations - Where to Go in 2014.
Farmhouse Inn is headed to Castello di Casole in Tuscany for a culinary experience like none other. In June chef Steve, MS Geoff and owners Catherine & Joe are headed to Tuscany to partner with another of Travel & Leisure's top hotels to explore the world of Tuscan Food. We hope you can join us...details to follow.
