Inn Wine Country this Week...Earth Day and Easter
We have been having such fun here at the Farmhouse Inn with our "Make your own Easter Basket" and Easter Egg Hunt Farmhouse style. Goodies galore (more chocolate, please) and your very own basket to fill. The inn has a basket of eggs at the front desk filled with surprises. Each guest checking in selects an egg...and finds a treasure inside- maybe a $25 gift card, a bottle of wine, a free spa treatment or even...a complimentary dinner for two in the Farmhouse restaurant. If you are looking for a quick getaway we still have a couple of rooms left. Speaking of the restaurant I have a little spring present for you from our pastry chef at the end of this post.
It is officially Earth Day today and we had a lot of Earth Day festivities this last week...they didn't want to fight with Easter, I guess. Still lots of activities today and this weekend but I wanted to share with you a video I came across that is another view of our sweet Mother Earth. (It is actually an ad for something but you won't mind - it is beautifully done.)
And now Easter on Sunday - our April showers should let up in time for the bulk of the festivities. Sunrise services out at the Sonoma Coast, lots of places to go for brunch (in case you aren't staying at Farmhouse for our Sunday breakfast) and every park seems to have an egg hunt or fun and games scheduled.
Today Spring Lake Park is having an Earth Day for Kids celebration. And for the adults a lot of the wineries are having special celebrations of the day. Stonestreet Winery is having Mountain View Picnics and Inman Family Wines is featuring tours of their organic farming and the eco-ethics they practice.
One thing I would love to do with my "grandgirls" is the "Hunt for the Hare" event at Safari West. If you haven't been there make sure you include it in plans for your next trip to the wine country.
And here is the sweet Easter surprise I promised from Pattie, the Farmhouse Inn pastry chef. Steal her recipe for Meyer Lemon Budino here.
I would like to see some comments and ideas here...fairly new to this blogging thing and would like to know if we are going in the right direction. What are you doing for Earth Day or Easter? Did you enjoy the video? And don't you love Meyer lemons? And when are you going to pay the Wine country and the Farmhouse Inn a visit?
