Sonoma Wine Country...summer at last!

Summer...lots of things to do in the wine country.  Every single day of the week (except Monday) there is a Farmer's Market somewhere in Sonoma County.  Between my neighbors' excess produce and the Farmer's Markets I won't have to visit a grocery story until probably next November.

And Music events...Tuesday is the night for Healdsburg's Concerts on the Plaza,  Thursday Windsor Town Green has a Farmer's market, music on the Green complete with Food trucks and wine tasting. Quite a family event -lawn games to give everyone something to do. Windsor has kids movies shown on the Green every Tuesday also- starts just after sunset.  If you have a sweet tooth a visit to Powell's Original Sweet Shoppe is in order - I love to listen to older people in there...they are more excited than the kids.  Who knew they were making all those old fashioned candies still- remember Teaberry gum, Moon Pies, Clove Gum?

Vintage candies...floor to ceiling.  Better not bring the kids...you will spend a mint just for yourself.

Harmony Festival

   Don't forget...

     the 33rd annual Harmony Festival

is this weekend in Santa Rosa.  More fun,
music, and food.  Focuses on arts, ecology,   and spirituality. Check out the line up...Weather is perfect!

And the Healdsburg Jazz festival wraps up this weekend...I hope you have been able to participate in any of the shows in this 10 day event.  There was some re-routing of the outdoor venues last weekend but this weekend- amazingly perfect weather.  Enjoy!

My personal favorite for the weekend-  I just have this thing for old cars and airplanes.  Peggy Sue's Cruise on Saturday starts with a Pancake breakfast, the Show and Shine is from 10-6, Food, music, and entertainment all day long.

Peggy Sue's Cruise

But not to be missed- the downtown Santa Rosa Cruise downtown from 6-9 pm.  The event goes through Sunday with the award ceremony on Sunday afternoon but I want to make sure I am there for the Cruise at least.  Takes you back to another time just like a piece of vintage candy.

This is also the last weekend for Art at the Source...visit the artist in their studios.  Pick up your schedule and map at Farmhouse Inn and take to our Russian River backroads.  Last week had quite a turnout even with the iffy weather but this week should be astounding.

Joann Cassady fish

Don't forget the pottery- #10 on the map is my neighbor, Carolyn HoranJoann Cassady is showing at her place too- Love her fishes but saw a frog bowl there last weekend that might just have my name on it!  Anyone in my family doing their Christmas shopping - head on over.

And I saw some pieces from James Selby over at Carolyn's last week...

James Selby

there is such a wealth of artists in this area and we all give them as much support as possible.  I haven't bought one of his pieces yet but I see him showing over at Windsor Town Green also and am always tempted.

James Selby Dog Long Hair

I guess it is just a matter of time...I do need a new puppy and this one could stay
outside!

Next weekend is Father's Day weekend...what are you doing for the weekend?  There's some Wine Country Cycling tours coming up from Sonoma Cycling Adventures.  Fund raising for the Regional Parks is still going on and some of those activities might be right up Dad's alley.  Pinot & Pizza at J Vineyards, the Cotati Jazz festival, a Father's Day Family Bird Walk,  Brunch or Dinner for Dad at various restaurants, Chardonnay & Croquet at Sonoma-Cutrer, West Sonoma Wineries have teamed with our favorite golf courses for "Hit the Links, Sip & Swirl". Give us some more ideas to honor Dad for the weekend.  A spa treatment and dinner at the Farmhouse Inn perhaps, and a cozy room to saunter back to after...I hope you are joining us.
