4th of JULY ALERT:

Farmhouse Ice Cream for the 4th
Not in the mood for the neighborhood cook-out this 4th?  For the dates of June 30th - July 4,  we’re celebrating the Independence Day Farmhouse-style and we have some great things planned!

When you arrive, the festivities begin… with an old fashioned drawing at check-in.  Pull a ticket from a box and who knows?

You just might win-

Then you might want to enjoy our “famous”  Do-It-Yourself seasonal snack bar - loads of lovely red, white and blue goodies to choose from, nostalgic candies to house made treats, stacks of sacks and bubbles galore… we’re sure you can concoct something fun and delicious to add to your holiday celebration.  And lastly, an Afternoon Ice Cream Social (ice cream from our friends at Clover) just like the good old days, every afternoon poolside.  So give us a call and let us know you're coming or click here to book.  There is just a couple of rooms left for the weekend. Don’t you deserve to getaway for the 4th of July Farmhouse-style?

Just in case you are not quite ready for the Independence Day Extravaganzas---

I didn't forget you might like to party some this weekend!!

A couple of fun things going on this weekend.  Nascar at the Infineon Raceway Sonoma is a huge event- imagine an ocean of Winnebagos, roaring racecars (going round and round and round),Nascar Infineon Sionoma Caand lots of beer...if you don't have to be there- avoid the area.  One huge traffic jam, too!

Price of gas??? Read this article in the North Bay Bohemian  - our very own Rob Loughran (you know - the writer- who hangs out at the Farmhouse Restaurant some nights) wrote one side of the debate that made the front cover this week.  Way to go, Rob!  One of his articles showed up in one of the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books too!

And the Lavender is blooming (yes even in my own back yard)!  One of our favorite places Matanzas Creek Winery is having their "Days of Wine & Lavender" event this Saturday. You have to see it to believe it!

They do get sold out but down in Kenwood the annual Sonoma Lavender Fest is both Saturday and Sunday.  You can cut your own bouquets, attend demonstrations, relax in the massage tent- music, food, and of course, wine round out the day.

By the way, the bees love it too!

  Have you tasted Lavender Honey?

One more little item for this week- the Sonoma-Marin Fair at the Fairgrounds in Petaluma-  Old fashioned fair fun that celebrates our rural farming heritage here in Sonoma County. (Okay- okay - and the food and wine too)

Ugly Dog contest Sonoma
Tonight is the "Ugliest Dog Contest"  which I will have to miss - when I see the pictures of the winners I always feel a little sad..."a face only a mother could love"! Click that link for the photo gallery and you will see what I mean.

The Wine Garden at the fair showcases the winners of the North of the Gate wine competition - our friends over at Mill Creek Vineyards show up quite a few times.   Of course, food demonstrations and exhibits, free concerts, the normal carnival rides- everything from diaper derbies to destruction derbies!

If you miss this one- the Sonoma County Fair starts the end of July for 17 days.  Wine Country Horse Racing-  can't wait!  Russel Baze- my hero!

So...quick - get to Sonoma County and get your Summer on!

What would be better than good wine, good company, amazing s’mores, and a cozy fire?  I can’t think of anything else I would want!  Joey and I really enjoyed the nostalgia of roasting and toasting the marshmallows over the fire!  It definitely took me back to my childhood and I had no shame in having two of them!  I couldn’t help it!.continue
