The Farmhouse Inn Scene This Week.. Wine Country Tiny Weddings

This last week has been a bit crazy here at the Farmhouse Inn (you might say- situation normal!). We had scheduled a photo shoot for our very first video for this week.  Which sounds crazy- who wants to do something like that in our busy season?  But we wanted to include the Bartolomei family ranch and gardens (where Chef Stevo gets some of the produce for the restaurant) and they don't look like too much until later in the season when everything is growing like mad!

Remember when I told you "love must be in the air" as we had so many honeymoon couples and we're booking so many of our "Tiny Weddings"... last Friday we had a lovely couple from Minnesota elope to the Wine Country to escape the rigors of planning a big wedding back home.  It was very last minute and hush hush-  we put the whole thing together in two weeks. I wanted to tell you about it last Friday but they hadn't told their families yet. But now their secret is out and we have the pictures to prove it.

Elopement to Farmhouse Swenson

I would like to introduce you to Natalie and

Jesse just before they went over to

the Russian Hill Winery to say their

          "I do"s.

What a lovely couple- and they didn't

look nervous at all.

Loved her shoes...and the

bouquet was gorgeous, if I do say

so myself.  Natalie had sent me

a picture of one she admired and it was

centered around a few dramatic succulents which I just happened to have in my garden.  We were going to use some Stars of Bethlehem with them but they got fried in the previous week's heat wave.  So she had some shade plants in there that survived the heat nicely.  Some hydrangea, a few anemone, some spray roses, and purple buddleia from my house that was blooming so conveniently.
She happened to mention she loved purple and green together and luckily that was what we were able to incorporate.  Wine Country Wedding

And here they are after the ceremony over

at the winery,  Mr. & Mrs. Swenson.

We love the photo "op" possibilities

at some of the wineries.  Russian Hill's stunning

back patio overlooks the Russian River Valley

vineyards, a neighboring wineries pond, and an

old Hop Kiln building off in the distance.
So the wedding went off without a hitch (almost) and then they started their Wine Country honeymoon with us immediately after.  The Elopement Package includes massages at the Farmhouse Spa and a romantic dinner for 2 in the Farmhouse Restaurant.   By the time Natalie and Jesse headed home they looked very well fed and relaxed.  We hope to see them next year to help them celebrate their first anniversary.

If you or someone you know is planning to get married soon, think of the Farmhouse Inn and our tiny weddings.   A romantic Sonoma California wedding (and a wine country honeymoon to boot) for a fraction of the cost of an event- style wedding.

Another very busy weekend this weekend-

Vineman Russian River Triathalon

The Half Vineman Triathalon  is on Sunday-
the bikes have been arriving all week.
They start the race with a swim in the Russian River,
then bike, and then the run...ending up in Windsor.
The full Vineman is the end of the month which is twice the distance- they are twice dedicated too.

Head back to 1863 this weekend at the Civil War Days out at Casini Ranch in Monte Rio. It is said to be the largest Civil War reenactment west of the Mississippi.  Our Ginny's husband Mark has participated (boys and their toys); thankfully, the weather is cooler this year.  They are out there in their wool uniforms in July and some years it can be close to 100 degrees if a heat wave just happens to fall on that date!

Civil War Days Sonoma County

Just imagine- the above in the heat of summer.  Only going to be in the 70's and 80's this weekend-  whew!

The first annual Rootstock gastronomic street fair is over at the Santa Rosa Vintner's Square , an urban winery village with wine (of course), food, music, bocce and culinary demos.

A portion of the proceeds benefits Evelyn Cheatham's WOW programSo buy your ticket- it supports a very worthwhile cause! We hope it is very successful so there will be a "second annual".

That should be enough to keep you busy this weekend...The perfect weather, perfect combination of great food and wine, and whether you lucky enough to live here or are just visiting-

Sonoma County - The Most Beautiful Place on this earth!!

I am Natalie's Mom and Jesse's Mother-in-law. I have to admit we were very surprised but couldn't be happier about their decision to make their wedding memorable. We celebrated this past weekend at their aunt and uncle's cabin in Wisconsin with brats and beans and immediate family. The kids swam and the adults relaxed. Not how I ever visioned we would celebrate her wedding but I have to confess it was better! I'm hoping someday to celebrate an anniversary at the Farmhouse Inn. Natalie and Jesse loved it!

Natalie and Jesse, I think this was the most awesome thing I have ever seen, take away the stress and just think about each other instead of outside opinions. This is your day and you did it your way. ~ WAY TO GO ~ wishing yappiness 4 ever ~ AJ and UB Link
