Sonoma Wine Country...Making Music
The Sonoma Wine Country summer music scene certainly seems to include something for everybody. I know I've mentioned before there seems to be something going on just about every night...Just to give you a few ideas for the next few weeks.
Our new video we just shot here at Farmhouse Inn is in editing and is set to one of his songs (Thank you Dan for the kind permission) - keep your eyes on our website to see the finished product...coming soon.
- Sun. 8/7 Peter Frampton at the Wells Fargo Center
- and also Sunday Pat Benatar at Rodney Strong's Concert Series. One of my favorite concert venues...just hang out on the winery lawn with music, food, and of course, wine.
- and don't forget the BQ'd Oysters and Music on the patio every Sunday at Blue Heron out in Duncan's Mills.
- If you just want to hang out at a winery this weekend it is Hot August Weekend at Bella Vineyards and Wine Caves both Saturday and Sunday.
Latin Music, Zin and their new chef, Bruce, to feed you.
Here's Daphne, one of the cutest shelter dogs "lookin' for love" and a good home. Don't tell Miss Charlotte, the Farmhouse kitty- She came from the shelter and would want us to take them all...how could we resist?
This week the Sonoma County Fair Concert Schedule heats up with:
Tues. Aug. 9th Huey Lewis and The News
Wed. Aug. 10th David Crowder Band
Thur. Aug. 11th Trace Adkins
(all shows start after the horse races, thank goodness)
and Friday at 3 pm a free concert ...Sonoma Paradiso Day- The Pirate's Visit: A Swashbuckling Voyage. The Park Stage has free concerts all through the Fair...from Zydeco to Gypsy Swing to Latin.
Speaking of the fair we had some guests this last weekend raving about the Derby Dog Dash on Sunday...they said the two front runners got in a bit of a fight with each other while all the other dogs just breezed past them to the finish line. I guess it added to the fun of the horse races. They saw Valentine's Performing Pigs and the Turkey Stampede to cap off their day at the fair. What a Hoot!
This Sunday they are also having the Monster Truck Show and RV Derby and the Longhorn Steer Cattle Drive through downtown Santa Rosa.
Can you believe...right through downtown?
But I might wait until next weekend (the last weekend of the fair) and try to make it to the Destruction Derby after the races.
I guess we got a little off the music subject...more music this next week-
8/9 Tues. Healdsburg Plaza this week is Zydeco with Tom Rigney and Flambeau
8/10 Wed. Santa Rosa Farmer's Market
2nd Stage: Captain Jack Spareribs
3rd Stage: The Crux
8/11 Thurs. it's the Pulsators at Summer Nights on the Green in Windsor. And Guerneville is starting their Thursday concert series on the Plaza.
8/13 Sat. Roots Americana a free folk music fair in Santa Rosa.
8/13 Sat. Petaluma Music Festival with something like 16 bands, food and all day fun.
8/14 Sun. The Big Barbeque Event at Bodega Bay benefiting the Bodega Bay Volunteer Fire Department.
and of course there will be all day music at the Gravenstein Apple Fair in Sebastopol next weekend,
also apple pie, apple sauce, apple cider, caramel apples, apple fritters, apple cobbler, apple turnovers... and wine.
The Healdsburg Guitar Festival in Santa Rosa comes only every other year and is Friday, Sat. & Sun. next week (I have my guitarist son talked into it this year-he may add to his collection).
Hope that is enough to keep you busy...like I said, something for everybody!
