Butter and Egg Days, PetalumaSpring in Sonoma is the kick off for all kinds of fesivals and parades-
This weekend brings the Butter and Egg Days Parade in Petaluma and the Fisherman's Festival in Bodega Bay with the blessing of the fleet and the boat parade.  Both great hard to decide- just might be able to fit them both in.

Fisherman's Festival, Bodega Bay

Lest you think we forgot the wine- it is also the Passport Weekend in the Dry Creek Valley (a parade of wine glasses there or perhaps a tractor or two). Passport Weekend, Sonoma This event is a sellout every year with 50 wineries pouring and offering gourmet food and live entertainment.

Sonoma in spring is just amazing and May is just around the corner...with May Day and the Human Race and Cinco de Mayo events to kick it off. Farmer's Markets are overflowing with amazing spring goodies.  The fava beans (I know, I know- a labor of love), the asparagus, the artichokes, spring onions, beets,  and fennel, and lettuces, and cardoons and cheeses and eggs, and wild salmon, and crab and flowers and... once all the markets get going we have one to visit every night of the week except Monday.  And music events too... some free music event just about every night here in Sonoma County.

May is National Bike Month and right after the Wednesday Night Market in Santa Rosa kicks off the season on May 9th is the biggest weekend in bike racing we have ever seen.  I talked about the Amgen tour in the blog a few weeks ago but now the official schedule of events is getting packed and we are seeing participants already all over Sonoma County checking the course out.  National bike month
Here at Farmhouse we introduced our new "Sip 'n Cycle" package a little early for Earth Day but it is running the entire month of May.  You should call the concierge team for more information - I hear some dates are getting booked up already.

The local radio station KRUSH is sponsoring a FREE concert in Santa Rosa on Thursday May 10th to kick off the weekend activities for Amgen. Thursday is also Bike to Work Day with snacks and giveaways sponsored by the Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition and there is a Meet and Greet Reception that evening at the Trek Store with a chance to meet some of the race participants.

Friday continues the celebration with a Tour of Wine Santa Rosa pre-race party at D'Argenzio Winery in Santa Rosa with live music, gourmet food, and Bocce Ball (and complimentary tasting of its Levi's GranFondo Pinot Noir).  Then the opening Soiree and Official Team Presentation that evening is over at Sonoma-Cutrer winery just down the road from us here at Farmhouse Inn.

Saturday brings the Life Time Gran Fondo and the Sonoma Napa Gran Fondo rides.  And then of course the big race and all day Lifestyle Festival on Sunday.  What a weekend to be in Northern California!
Here's another look at Levi and his great vidoe on biking in Sonoma County...

What would be better than good wine, good company, amazing s’mores, and a cozy fire?  I can’t think of anything else I would want!  Joey and I really enjoyed the nostalgia of roasting and toasting the marshmallows over the fire!  It definitely took me back to my childhood and I had no shame in having two of them!  I couldn’t help it!.continue
