Joe and Catherine

The Farmhouse, originally built in the 1870s has a rich and varied history. It began as home to the Johnson Family, neighbors to the Giovanetti Family. While the Johnsons purchased 200 acres in the late 1870s and the Giovanettis acquired 200 acres a bit later, just after the turn of the century, life for each family was quite similar- until the Great Depression. Cattle for meat and dairy, hops, fruit orchards and gardens supported and fed each family. Domenic Giovanetti (Great-grandfather to Farmhouse owners, Catherine and Joe Bartolomei, left) also planted about 30 acres of zinfandel, petit sirah and carignan on his ranch. It was the grapes that saved him. While the Johnson Family was forced to sell off their property to raise money- Domenic kept his property in tact and thrived. Thanks to a connection with some relatives in Chicago... and a little still on the back-40. The house that Domenic Giovanetti completed in 1931 is home to Catherine Bartolomei and her family today. These fifth generation Russian River Valley vineyard owners, siblings Catherine and Joe Bartolomei, are dedicated to the preservation and promotion to Sonoma County's diverse agricultural offerings.

Today's Farmhouse realizes this Italian-American family's dream of offering warm Sonoma County hospitality, delicious food, fine wine, pampering spa and luxurious accommodations.
