Water Adventures and Activities in Sonoma County

The Farmhouse Inn is located less than a mile from the Russian River, which runs through Sonoma County and out to the Sonoma Coast.  The river comes down through Healdsburg and winds through West Sonoma County out to the mouth in the small and picturesque town of Jenner.   Whether you want to paddle or simply float, it is important to contact our Concierges ahead of time so that they may secure you a reservation.

  • Located in the town of Healdsburg is River's Edge, which rents guests kayaks, canoes and inner tubes.  River's Edge has a range of trips available for visitors, including half and full day trips.  During the high season (Summer-beginning of Fall) it is important to secure your reservation in advance as the River is a popular activity for visitors and locals alike.
  • If you're more of a floater you may want to consider Burke's canoe rentals, located 1 mile from the Farmhouse Inn.  Burke's has inner tubes for guests to use.  You may see locals who have rented a tube for their ice bucket and bottle of champagne- don't worry, most are willing to share.
  • Unfortunately the Russian River is too shallow for power boats, however both Lake Sonoma and Bodega Bay have boating options available to Sonoma County visitors.  For party boats we recommend you head up to Lake Sonoma.  They have boats available to rent by the hour.  To fish on a boat we encourage you to head to Bodega Bay.  Please note that both activities require advance reservations.
