Farmhouse Inn...Memorial Weekend starts on a high note!

Posted by Meilani N on May 27, 2011

Today the Farmhouse Inn  concierges are so busy getting ready for the big weekend - 8 of our guests for the weekend came in earlier in the week but we still have 10 couples checking in today.  It is crazy around here...but we are full every weekend so why is it any crazier this week than normal?  Not sure but the phone is ringing off the hook and it seems everyone in the Russian River area is booked up so there are some pretty desperate people out there.  They just figured out today they have three days off?   I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend.  I saw a lot of campers on the road last night too so everyone is getting out of town.  And what better place to go than the Sonoma Wine Country...just imagine yourself here...

I just wanted to share with you what we got from one of our winery partners today.  We have 12 wineries that we partner with.  They always do wonderful special things for our guests and this letter from Jim over at Copain Winery kind of ties in with my blog post from yesterday.  Because not only do we want to make a friend in every guest but our winery partners do too.  We met some of these guests at our wine tasting the owners hold every Thursday evening ( Unti Winery was here pouring last night, I love their new release of Rose) and the guests were all so excited to be here.  Here's that letter...

 "Hi ladies (& gents)!

I wanted to let you all know that we had a heap of Farmhouse guests yesterday up at Copain for appointments and drop-in tastings and every single one left with a big smile on their face and wine on the way to their homes. They all LOVED their experiences here and I wanted to send you a thank you for (again) continuing to send such lovely folks our way.

George and Kristina from Long Island were a wonderful couple, inquisitive, interested and soaking up all the information I could share with them about grape growing, winemaking and what makes Copain so special. They arrived promptly at 10:30 AM for their appointment and stayed until around 12:15 or so, they really had a wonderful time.

David  and his wife from Fort Lauderdale also dropped in around 11:30 and I tasted with them at the Tasting Bar while I was finishing with the Merritts. They were quite knowledgeable about wine, having just come up from Paso Robles and really responded well to our Pinot Noir’s and our full-bodied reds. They were so pleased, they joined our wine club!

Bernadette and Ron  from New Jersey arrived for their Picnic Pairing right on time. We were running just about 15 minutes behind schedule, so I offered them some water and they happily waited in the Adirondack chairs until we were setup for them. They loved the lunch, loved the wines and since Ron had been buying some of our older vintages from some auction houses back east, he was anxious to taste our new releases. We are shipping over a case of wine to them this Fall once the weather cools off back east.

Thank you again for EVERYTHING you guys do. I look forward to seeing you all this summer."

What would be better than good wine, good company, amazing s’mores, and a cozy fire?  I can’t think of anything else I would want!  Joey and I really enjoyed the nostalgia of roasting and toasting the marshmallows over the fire!  It definitely took me back to my childhood and I had no shame in having two of them!  I couldn’t help it!.continue
